(Mathematical) optimization and planning

Growing competitive pressure is forcing companies to continuously upgrade their processes. Particularly in the case of machines used in industry, some parameters can be optimized in order to boost the efficiency of assets.
Mathematical optimization is a method used to determine the optimal parameters for the most profitable implementation. Existing data is analysed in different ways for this purpose. Data mining, for instance, i.e. the systematic application of statistical methods, can be used to prepare and evaluate large amounts of data. The results can be generalized, so that new findings and trends can be identified. These in turn help to optimize operating settings or processes.
