Smart and confident use of data for production

Within the framework of a German-Austrian cooperation, the funding of a lead project "Smart and sovereign use of data for production" is planned.

This lead project is to address the following key issues:

  • Identification, extraction and organization of production relevant data
  • Increased flexibility and efficiency in production by processing production-relevant data
  • Ensuring security and availability of production-relevant data.

In particular, it should also be possible to develop concepts that clarify the need for, and the technological and economic benefits of the GAIA-X open platform (www.daten-infrastruktur.de).

Both sides intend to support this project with €2.5 Mio. each, subject to the availability of the corresponding budgetary funds.

Funding for this international cooperation project is provided on the basis of the "Development of Digital Technologies" (in German only) funding framework, whose framework regulations apply. Funding will be provided for a strategic project in the special form of "international cooperation projects" with generally three to five partners in accordance with No. 7.2 of the funding framework. In deviation from the funding framework, the project duration may be up to 48 months.

Both sides draw up a joint bilateral project description and submit it to their respective countries by the cut-off date. The basis for this description of the lead project is the template for bilateral project description.

The BILATERAL PROPOSAL GUIDE provides information on the exact procedure.

For those interested in Austrian funding, the FFG provides information here.

For German applicants, the application procedure has two stages:

Step 1: - completed

The call is completed. The submitted sketches are now being evaluated.
(The German sub-consortium will submit the bilateral project description as a project outline by 12 noon on August 20, 2020. This is done via the online outline tool pt-outline. This bilateral project description is binding for the entire consortium! In terms of the usual funding rules, this is already the overall project description. It serves as a basis for all further steps).

Step 2:

After a positive evaluation, the German partners will be invited to submit a proposal. Formal project proposals must be submitted via the online funding portal easy-online by the deadline of October 20, 2020.
