In the area of data economy, Germany and Austria see good opportunities for joint development of solutions. Both countries have implemented cooperative project funding for data economy in the field of edge computing. Research, development and innovation projects in the edge-cloud continuum are funded, in which the benefits and advantages of edge computing solutions are shown, especially from an economic and ecological point of view and in different application domains. Edge and cloud data spaces are being researched and tested as a basis for sovereign data exchange and use. The technology funding "Edge Datenwirtschaft" is intended to help secure European digital sovereignty and strengthen Germany and Austria as locations for technology and innovation. The calls for funding "Edge Datenwirtschaft" by the BMWK and " Bilaterale Ausschreibung mit Deutschland zu Edge Datenwirtschaft " by the BMK from Austria enable cooperative research and development projects. The Austrian contributions had to address research topics in the field of digital technologies, such as mastering complex solutions, developing data-driven technologies and intelligent systems, justifying trust or ensuring interoperability.
