Discover 5G FORUM and KliNet5G at DMEA 2024 in Berlin
DMEA 2024 in Berlin offers visitors the chance to gain exclusive insights into the future of medical technology and digital communication. Two R&D projects from the BMWK's technology programmes will be presenting their results at Europe's most important digital health trade fair.
DMEA in Berlin is Europe's leading event for digital health, taking place from 9 to 11 April 2024 at Messe Berlin. With over 700 exhibitors and more than 16,000 attendees, it is the central meeting place for digital health professionals.
KliNet5G: Innovations for connected healthcare
The Innovation Centre Computer Assisted Surgery at Leipzig University (ICCAS) will be presenting the latest developments in the field of medical technology from the KliNet5G project. The focus will be on insights into the ambulance of the future and the Health Communication Lab of the KliNet5G project. These presentations offer a unique opportunity to experience the practical implementation of research results and the integration of various radio technologies in medical practice. In addition, ICCAS will present the current status of the development of the KliNet5G guide, which is intended to support hospitals on their way to setting up a 5G campus network.
The KliNet5G project is evaluating the feasibility of a purely 5G-based network infrastructure based on OpenRAN in hospitals. It brings together end-user equipment manufacturers, hospital operators and medical users. Among other things, concepts are being developed for the future design of the infrastructure and the associated changes to work processes. In addition, practical clinical applications for logistics and patient care are combined and implemented in order to make hospital processes more flexible and continuously optimise them.

5G-FORUM: Wireless networking in the operating theatre
As part of the OR.NET e. V. joint stand at the DMEA, the Franco-German cooperation project 5G-FORUM will present the work of the last two years.
The developments of the research project will be presented in a variety of ways at the trade fair: As part of an operating theatre demonstrator, through presentations and roll-ups in the research area and in the real-time SDC demonstrator.
The aim of the project is to eliminate disruptive cable connections in the operating theatre and thus improve ergonomics and safety. In addition, the possibilities of open and wireless networking in real time are to be researched.
In addition to the consortium's work, there will be various presentations, demonstrators and showcases from partners from industry and research on the topic of openly networked medical technology at the stand, which will cover over 100 square metres.
