Experience digital innovations - highlights from BMWK funding at the Digital Summit
Once again this year, pioneering projects from the funding programmes of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection (BMWK) will be represented at the Digital Summit. From 21 to 22 October, they will be presenting innovative solutions for quantum computing, data and digital identities. Find out more about the highlights and programme items here!
The Digital Summit 2024 is just around the corner and will bring together key players in the digital transformation. Among them: several BMWK-funded projects that present innovative approaches and technological solutions in the areas of quantum computing, intelligent and sovereign data utilisation in production and secure digital identities. These projects play a key role in implementing the German government's data strategy and shaping the digital future of Germany and Europe.
Quantum computing in focus
In the programme item "Quantum computing - areas of application and political control of a future technology of tomorrow" on 22 October 2024 from 10:15 to 11:15 a.m., the BMWK-funded EniQmA project will discuss its work in a station talk. Prof Dr Nikolay Tcholtchev from Fraunhofer FOKUS and Dr Johann Schmidt from the DLR Project Management Agency will provide insights into the use of quantum computing for commercial applications and discuss the potential of this ground-breaking technology with representatives from politics and science.
In the afternoon of the same day, from 13:30 to 14:30, the EniQmA project and the programme support team will delve deeper into the discussion in a panel discussion entitled "Quantum computing - a technology of the future or already relevant today?". This event is part of the Market of Digital Opportunities and offers the opportunity for a direct exchange with companies that are already trialling the first applications of quantum computing.
Experience the European data strategy live
Another highlight is the presentation of the German-Austrian projects EuProGigant and champI4.0ns, which will demonstrate how their results contribute to the Federal Government's data strategy at the joint stand of the BMI, BMDV and BMWK on level 2 in the foyer. At the Market of Digital Opportunities (stand 30, floor 1), the EuProGigant flagship project will also show how secure and self-determined data exchange is becoming a reality with the help of GAIA-X principles.
Secure digital identities you can touch
The topic of digital identities also plays an important role at this year's summit. Two partners from the ID-Ideal project from the Secure Digital Identities showcase will be demonstrating live how identification and verification technologies can be used in everyday life. At stand 17 on level 1, "Art goes digital" will become an experience through the use of AI. Visitors can generate images via touch terminals and have them printed out directly using a digital identity solution. The highlight at stand 38 is the demonstration of an EUDI wallet, which depicts the future of secure digital identities in Europe.
What is particularly exciting is that these stands have been nominated for a tour by the BMWK management under the patronage of Federal Minister Robert Habeck, which emphasises the importance of these projects for Germany's digital future.
