Making augmented reality fit for industrial use
There are many activities within the industrial sector that stand to benefit from the use of augmented reality (AR). Augmented reality is about giving users contextual information that is combined with the reality perceived by the user. For this to work, AR-enabled devices (e.g. data glasses) must work together well with users themselves, IT systems, and the manufacturing environment. AcRoSS wants to make this an option for companies of different sizes and working in different industries. Under the project, a platform is being developed which allows for all the necessary data to be exchanged and different AR services to be provided. The platform is open and expandable, giving third parties a chance to participate in the development of new AR services.
